You can take the girl out of the ‘hood, but not the ‘hood out of the girl, or at least so declares pop starlet Becky G in her new single “Becky From The Block.” The video for the “Jenny From The Block”-interpolating track features the 16-year-old up-and-comer paying homage to her Inglewood, California roots by giddily bouncing around her home turf, with “Jenny” herself — aka Jennifer Lopez — making a short cameo in a convertible at the end. That’s all fine and dandy, but the song’s lyrics contain somewhat of a frightening warning to all of Adele-loving Ms. G’s future love interests: “If you wanna date me, you gotta ask my Daddy and my 30 uncles, you can meet them in an alley!” Last year Becky explained to us that she became a protege of hit-maker Dr. Luke after the producer caught one of her covers. “From what Luke told me,” she explained, “he was instantly, like, ‘Oh my God, I need to meet this girl.’ So literally the day after he saw the music video, I met him.
